About this site

An unofficial, non-commercial fan site about one film: The Interpreter (2005), directed by Sydney Pollack.

This site exists because the film rewards a second look. It is written by viewers, for viewers — people who came to it late, or came back to it, and wanted somewhere that treated it seriously without treating it as sacred.

What it is

Fourteen pieces about one picture: what it is, who is in it, how it was made, and how it landed. The organising idea is the interpreter’s booth — every block on the site is either a source (a fact, a plate, a billing table) or a translation (prose, argument, opinion). We try never to let the second pretend to be the first.

What it is not

An unofficial fan site. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the film’s producers, distributors or rights holders.

We do not host or link to copies of the film. We do not keep a score — the aggregators do that, and we link to them. We take no affiliate money for any outbound link. Real people appear here only as film-makers and performers, and only in connection with this film and their work.

On accuracy

Everything presented as fact is checkable: the director, the cast and roles, the running time, the distributor, the invented country and language, and the landmark shoot inside United Nations Headquarters. Where a detail is uncertain we describe the film rather than assert the fact. If you find an error, tell us and we will correct it.

Image sources

All imagery is real film material or photographs of the real people and places involved — the theatrical one-sheet, the United Nations locations, and portraits of the performers and the director. Nothing here is generated or fabricated.
